23 weeks pregnant and a recap!!

I am 23 weeks pregnant today....

with a baby BOY!!

We are very excited to have one of each :)

So far I have gained 11 lbs. which according to the charts is right on track for my weight gain goal of 25-30  lbs.
With Baby A I had gained 42 lbs. which was definitely over what was necessary. I ate healthy, but not as healthy as I do now, and I didn't really work out all that much....just yoga and light weights here and there.

This time I have kept up with regular workouts. I took a month off when we moved ( our move was hectic and crazy and there is STILL work being done on the house).

My workouts consist of weight training, cardio, and yoga! I have been managing to do all 3. My current workout routine is 5-6 days a week, with either Saturday or Sunday off....and sometimes we go for long walks on those days!

I feel best when I am active.
( a couple of this weeks workouts)

5 min treadmill warm up/5 min cool down, 40 min weight lifting,

10 min stretching. Did lateral

band walking to help with core strength.  Yoga in the evening.
1.22 mile jog during day. yoga in the evening.

Since starting back after the move I have experience a lot of soreness from the weight training, but it was totally expected despite having trained before. Any time I take a break I am always sore for a little while.

I have been doing well with school! I should finish up in August! I am very excited. I so far have completed my personal training certification and 2 other certifications, I now have 2 certifications and 1 final project left before I achieve the Master Personal Fitnesss Trainer title. I am very excited about this.

After that I will take a break for Baby B to be born and for bonding time.
Then I will hit the books for nutrition and I am thinking fitness chef too!
I have goals of a Masters degree in sight as well. I am hoping to complete all of this very quickly :)

It feels good to be following my passion. What are you passionate about? What are you doing to pursue your passion?
I personally wish I had pursued education for my passion about 5 years or so ago, but I wasn't mentally ready then for all that I decided to take on now.

It is interesting juggling school, pregnancy, a move, and a 2 1/2 year old! In addition Hubby works and is in school too, so we both have a lot on our plate!

We wouldn't have it any other way though. Our lives are full and happy.

Oh and one thing I am super excited about....

I made tortillas successfully for the first time yesterday!

YAY!

Have you tried anything new lately?
I would love to hear from you.

Taking Away A Kids Lunch? Are You Kidding Me?

not my photo.
image googled from around the web,
no monetary compensation

I read an article the yesterday about kids at a school in Utah getting their lunches taken away.

Here is the article I read:

Here's is another article on the subject if you would like to catch up:

First off let me say this...if anyone took my child's lunch away for ANY reason....I would be livid.

Basic human rights are:

Food
Air
Water
Clothing
Shelter

If a child is deprived of any of these things, it is child abuse.
Plain and simple.

Children have a RIGHT and a NEED to be fed!

If a child spends 8+ hours at school every day, I as a parent would want to know my child has food, bathroom privileges, safety provided by the staff of the school, etc.

If ANY of these are taken away from a child, it is a disgrace. It is a shame. A child should feel safe at school.

I am sick of all these anti-bullying campaigns....yes they are helping kids keep from being bullied by kids...
BUT I have read numerous articles of kids now being BULLIED BY SCHOOL STAFF! This is UNACCEPTABLE.

I do not care if the school has apologized. I do not care if they say they are sorry. It should have never happened in the first place.

The issue of money is between the parents and the school. Send the parents a bill in the mail, call a conference with the parents...but DO NOT for ANY REASON take a child's lunch away. PERIOD.

In my opinion, school lunch should be provided free of charge since your child will spend the majority of the day there. It is a basic human necessity. If it is charged for it should be paid for in advance....like a college meal plan for example.
I do not believe however that children should pay for a school's lack of funds or a parental mistake.

If my child is in the care of a school, they should be safe for the entire day. My child is to be fed, remain clothed, feel safe, be able to go to the bathroom, get a good education, have access to water  when they are thirsty, and not be reprimanded in any way without contacting ME!

It is sad to me that so many schools are getting away with being BULLIES to the children despite an ANTI-bullying policy.

I think that the Principle needs a detention...aka FIRED.

I read recently about a male teacher embarassing a student by removing her shirt in front of class, I read about a child locked in a closet by a teacher, I have also read about a deaf boy who wandered off school property because no one was paying attention to him....this is UNACCEPTABLE!

What is happening with our schools today??

A message to the schools:

Safety first. It is our children you are dealing with. You may see it as a pain or a challenge to take care of them while they are there, but they are our CHILDREN. We love our children, cherish them, and want them to be safe. If you are not a person who cares about this, then you should not be working with children. My child's safety, learning, and well being come before your paycheck, the school's convenience, or any other bullshit excuse you may come up with for humiliating a child. It is my hope and prayer that you all get your shit together before my daughter is old enough to go to kindergarten.

Sincerely,

An angry parent
