More than just a shoe.

Ever have a nice pair of heels? Some maybe as pretty as the ones above? Even if not, ever just have a pair of shoes, or an outfit that makes you feel on top of the world?

Or maybe you are like me, someone who before baby prided themselves in looking their best every day. Dressing even if not leaving the house, doing full face makeup and hair- just to greet hubby at the door with a beautiful smile.

I don't know about the rest of you ladies, but when Baby A came,  that changed. Nothing changed my mindset though, I would still LOVE to greet my hubby at the door with full face make up, nice jeans & a pretty shirt, maybe even heels if I had to run to the grocery store. Unfortunately, there is not enough time in the day, I take a shower but usually that is all Baby A lets me have time for ....either she needs to eat or has a diaper changed, or maybe is waking up from a nap and wants mommy time. Or some days it is the housecleaning that gets in the way, Baby A's nap time is my cleaning time. Laundry, sweeping...you get the drift. On top of that I still don't fit into 99% of my wardrobe, so it's yoga pants & a t-shirt most of the time.

My point is, motherhood has left me feeling less than gorgeous...and I'd love to get out my heels again (my feet haven't shrunk back yet either, making this an impossible task), but for now, I am focusing on what is most important....figuring out life with Baby A. Maybe in a few weeks (or months) when Baby A & I get a better routine, I can  be "me" again ~ a less scrubby feeling more beautiful feeling mommy & wife.

You know what though, I am still loving every minute of being me right now. I have a beautiful daughter whom I love & a handsome hubby that I adore! What could be better than that?

I can be happy with me now because I know that I will get back to being ME 2.0 soon enough ;)

Mission: Getting My Body Back After Baby! (3)

This is week 10 since I gave birth to Baby A!

She is growing & I am shrinking! That's the way it should be :)

Week 8 I weighed in at 113 lbs, down from 118 lbs.

Week 9 I weighed in at 112 lbs. and 29 1/2 inches waist measurement.

I feel like I am shrinking! My biggest accomplishment this week was putting on a pair of my old jeans. Granted, they were a pair of my larger jeans, but they zipped AND buttoned!

My stats this week:

110 lbs!
29 inch waist

I am LOVING that I lost 2 lbs. this week & 1/2 an inch around my waist! That is amazing! I am so happy.

I have been working really hard. I did 2 weight training workouts this week & will be doing a 3rd tomorrow. Today is abs and yoga. Also, I got some bonus activity in as we had 2 days of 60 degree weather, in February! That is not common around here. Hubby and I took Baby A for 2 walks this week. So wonderful!

Here are my progress pictures for week 10:

Thank you all for following me on my journey to get my pre-baby body back!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today marks what would have been my father's 51st birthday.
Sadly, he died August 15, 2011 after a long battle with colon cancer.

Me & My Dad July 2010

Even though he is not here, I would like to celebrate his birthday.
This birthday celebration is for the life he lived! The wonderful 50 years he had on this earth.

My Dad

But I don't want you all to know about him for his cancer.
I want to share with you what a wonderful man he was.

Labor Day 2009

My father was the kind of man who would bring food to a homeless man on the corner of the road, take a lost teenager under his wing, help those in need. He cared about each and every person he met, no matter who they were, or what they believed.
My whole life, I remember growing up with a father who loved me and who loved my siblings, and who loved my mother with his whole heart.
And more importantly, he loved God.

He never let anything distract him from his family or from God.
He was a man who made sacrifices of things he wanted or needed to take care of us and others.

My Dad doing what he did best.

I have taken a lot of lessons from my father but three stand out in my mind.

Live life with love.
Be selfless.
Respect yourself and others.

So, as I go about my day on January 28, 2012 , I will remember all the birthdays that we celebrated with my father & all the years I had with him.

Happy Birthday Dad!
Today is a celebration of you!

My Dad's 50th Birthday 1-28-11
I love you Dad.

20 kids and counting?

I have nothing against large families or people who want to have a lot of children.
I do however worry about the Duggars with so many children. Especially with the health issues of both mom Duggar and baby in her last pregnacy (#19).... now the Duggars are having another baby?!

My personal thoughts: How many will be enough? What about the mom's health and the health of the baby she is carrying?

What are your thoughts?

The Duggars seem like a wonderful family & have a great TV show. They seem to have plenty of love to go around for all their children.

My thoughts don't matter in this of course, as it is their decision. I wish them the best and many blessings.

Hamilton Beach True Air Odor Eliminator [Review]

As you all know, hubby and I have been working on the nursery. While the new furniture is beautiful, it can also be a little "stinky". The furniture needs to air out.

Well, when we were at the store the other day, we saw the Hamilton Beach True Air Odor Eliminator. It retails (on their website) for $14.99! Not a bad deal!

It comes with an optional fragrance cartridge. I didn't want to use the fragrance cartridge, so I plugged it in without.

We went back into the nursery later, and the air smelled fresh & clean!

The best part is the carbon filter lasts for 3 months, and we bought a replacement filter pack ( there are 3 in the package). So this should last us through Baby A's first year. I also like that it has a filter change indicator on the front so I will know when to change the filter.

I think this is an amazing addition to the nursery & at a great price!

I am excited to see how well it works on keeping the air fresh when the diaper pail is full :)

A Case Of The Mondays!

Ever just feel like Mondays are bad days no matter what?
What makes Mondays so special that they get to dictate your mood every single week?

You know the kind of Monday where you wake up late, the car won't start, the kids are screaming, your dog won't wait to get let outside, the package you have been waiting for arrives damaged in the mail? One of those kind of days....why always Monday?

I think it's all in how we approach Mondays.
If we expect the day to go badly, if we anticipate a bad day, chances are it will be a bad day. We attract what we believe.

Now, try thinking of Mondays as a good day. A day to be productive after a restful or fun weekend! Let's turn those frowns upside down & those Mondays around!

Monday can be the start of a great week!
If you are on a diet, or workout, then Monday can be a fresh start toward new goals!
Monday can be great.

Try it this week. If you are having a bad Monday, start over. Right now. Anticipate the best, and make the most out of this fresh start you've been given.

1-2-3...go!

Football Sunday!

Happy Sunday!
Every Sunday at our house is football Sunday.
It's a great way to spend these chilly fall days. Whether
it's a game I'm interested in or not, it's still a great way to
spend time with my hubby and relax.

Our team is the New England Patriots!

Who is your team? Do you watch football in your home
? If not, how do you spend your Sundays?

Thank you for the mail!

It's nearing Thanksgiving time and I am thinking of things/people that I am thankful for.

Today I am grateful for the mail person, this is someone who might get overlooked.

Have you thanked the mail person lately?
Or the FedEx person?
Or the UPS person?

Well, I just want to say thank you to the people who have tracked numerous packages up to our 3rd floor apartment for Baby A. Some of which were pretty heavy- like the crib.

Thank you.

I make sure to say thanks for every package that arrives. I can imagine that people take the mail person for granted.

Maybe there are other people who make your life a little easier. Who do you need to thank?

Word-Full Wednesday!

I see a lot of blogs with "Wordless Wednesday" posts, which I think are pretty awesome. These posts usually will consist of a picture or a series of pictures.
I decided today is going to be a "Word-Full Wednesday" picture post.

I hope you enjoy!

What Does The Number 1 Mean To You?

Happy 1st of November.
This year November 1st dates 11/1/11. How cool is that?
So it got me thinking, what does the number one mean to me?

For some it means:

#1 Sports Fan
#1 Athlete
#1 Musician
#1 ....etc.

To me, I just want to be
 #1 Mom & Wife.

Family is my #1 priority.

The number 1 to me also means new beginnings.
In this case we have a chance to start over the first of every month. We don't have to wait until New Year's Day to resolve to be better. We can start now.

This November I will be a mom for the 1st time. I am so excited!

My hubby and I celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary.

Our daughter will experience her 1st Christmas shortly after she is born.

Then it will be 1/1/12.... the New Year.... the first year I will experience without my father. I am sad he is gone, but when he was here he was the #1 Dad, and always will be in my heart.

What does #1 mean to you?
