(TT): Gym, Thunderstorms, and Sleep!

I have a lot to be grateful for today!
There was a severe storm warning for our area, the storm was supposed to come at 5 am....the same time I leave for the gym.
Instead of a major storm we only got some rain! It was clear when I left for the gym AND when I came home. I was so excited!

I also am thankful that I was able to work out today. I  have been dealing with severe asthman and allergy attacks since last week Friday, so I have been under the weather. It was also a bad morning for my fibromyalgia. I made it to the gym and got a good work out in...despite my health issues. It felt good to lift, even if not quite as heavy as I normally would have.

This morning Baby A slept in. She does not like naps, so I was very grateful to get 1 1/2 hours this morning to tackle my to-do list before she woke up.

This left me with extra time to hang out with Baby A today after she woke up :) I love quality time reading to her and playing with her!

What are you thankful for today?

Thankful Thursday (TT): Protein, Gym, Family, and Food.

Wow. This week really seems to have flown by fast. People always told me that time only speeds up after you have kids, but I never really realized how much.

Happy Thursday, I hope that the day is treating you well.

I woke up at 5 am today and started my day off with weight training and sprints at the gym. I have to say that though I was mentally motivated, my fibromyalgia made it hard to get out of bed. Never the less, I made it any way and couldn't be happier that I did.  I really focused on my upper body today. I focused on legs Tuesday. My legs were still really sore today, so I did some lunges, squats, and a few machines.... but nothing too crazy for legs today.
I am really thankful that I made it to the gym today.

Just a quick pic I snapped at the gym today.
Haha, you can see my Vibrams.
There are days when I go to the gym and hope that no one will talk to me. When I am in the gym I am in "BEAST MODE" , all I want to do is put all my attention into my workout and get it done. I am really passionate about fitness and serious about lifting. So much so, that I hope to be in shape enough to compete in the near future.  Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the conversation today. I had done all of my workouts at home last week due to being too ill to get out of bed in mornings ( usually I feel better by 1-2 pm), so I was not at the gym last week at all.
I couldn't believe how much the people at the gym missed me. It was nice to know that I not only motivate people there, but that they are a support system I didn't realize I had. One person held the door for me, and three others chatted trying to catch up and let me know that they really consider me a part of their gym family. This touched my heart.
So, though I may be in "BEAST MODE" at the gym, maybe I should get there a few minutes earlier, just so that they can know I am a support too, and I don't come off as rude by being in my workout zone.

I am thankful for my Hubby who sets his alarms in the morning so I don't miss my workouts. I am thankful for his moral support when I am self conscious about one body part or another. I am grateful for his comfort when I go through hard times, as I have gone through a lot of hard times the past 2 years...and it doesn't seem to have let up. I am thankful that I have such a bright future with him and that we have grown together instead of apart like many couples do.

Thanks Hubby. :)

On a less mushy note, I am super excited about  the latest protein we are using. It is my favorite so far.

New favorite protein!

In addition, I am also grateful for preparedness. I always chop and freeze extra leftover veggies at the end of the week, and the chicken too. This way it does not go bad and have to be thrown out. The leftovers resulted in a delicious meal this week! It will soon become a recipe posted on this blog.

Last nights quick meal!

I hope that you have been having a blessed week.

I care about all my readers, and would love to hear about what is going on in your lives!!

Comments make me happy :)

What are you thankful for this week?

New Gym Routine!

Wow!! I have to say that I was worried about if I could wake up at 5 am to work out. However, I did it!!

I previously worked out Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 6-730/745 pm. I found that this was cutting into family time in the evenings. I also wanted to start working out 5 days a week, which would bring my work out frequency back to what it was before I got pregnant with Baby A.

Now that Baby A is 9 months old I am working even harder at getting my body into the shape I want it to be.

This week started my new workout schedule.

Monday- 530-630 pm
Tuesday- 515 - 630 am
Wednesday- 530-630 pm
Thursday- 515 - 630 am
Friday- OFF
Saturday- 8 am - 930 am
Sunday- OFF

I am really excited about this new schedule as I will be able to separate cardio & weights most days. I also discovered today that the morning crowd at the gym has WAY better gym etiquette than the evening crowd, which is a HUGE bonus!! The gym is busy on Tuesday mornings but not crowded which is nice. The evening time was so crowded that the benches and cardio machines were almost always full and I was always bumping into people. It makes working out uncomfortable when Its that crowded.

I look forward to getting into a new routine. It was very difficult to wake up early this morning but sooo worth it. I am hoping this routine shows the benefits that I expect!

What is your gym routine? Do you ever switch it up?
