Eating Too Much Sugar Can Be Damaging To The Brain.

Many of you who read  this blog know that Hubby and I gave up added sugars in our food. We did this for many reasons, the biggest reason being that sugar is really bad for our health.

Since we have given up refined sugars, I have seen a lot more news about how bad refined/added sugars are for your health.

Naturally occuring sugars in fruits and some grains aren't the issue. It is the ADDED sugars that are the problem.

I read in this article that eating added sugars can cause memory problems and difficulty learning! This happens because eating the added sugar reduced the production of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF).  Low levels of this chemical also contribute to type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance.
It also mentioned that low levels of BDNF can lead to depression and dementia.

Read more of the article here.

Read the research here.

Maybe this will help you to think twice before indulging in too many sweet treats!

What are your thoughts on this article and the research behind it?

Be Happy Healthy & Strong,
