Domino's Gluten Free Crust? Really?!

Many of you may have seen that Domino's has come out with a "gluten free" crust.
Before you get excited, it's not what it seems.
While the crust itself does not contain gluten, they do not recommend it to Celiac's due to the risk for cross contamination.

Here's a link to the CBS article:

Gluten free statement here:

"Domino's pizza made with a Gluten Free Crust is prepared in a common kitchen with the risk of gluten exposure. The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness supports the availability of Domino's Gluten Free Crust, but cannot recommend the pizza for customers with celiac disease. Customers with gluten sensitivities should exercise judgment in consuming this pizza."

?!

Sounds to me like they are only appealing to fad dieters.

My two cents?
Skip the fast food as it is bad for you anyway.
Make your pizza at home!!

If you must eat pizza out, then try out a place like Z pizza! They offer a gluten free crust option as well and have great ingredient options too!

If you have Celiac, you need to be serious about taking care of your gut, and I feel like eating Domino's gluten free crust, or any of their pizzas, Celiac or not, is just not doing your gut or your weight any good.

Just stay away.

Be Happy Healthy & Strong,

Lolli

*These are just my opinions. All opinions are true and my own. I am not endorsing Z pizza or any company. I am not bashing Domino's I am merely saying my personal opinions.*

Recipe: Cauliflower Crust Pizza!

Are you tired of paying high prices for gluten free/ dairy free pizza crusts?

Are you looking for a healthier way to enjoy pizza?

Are you looking for a new way to get more veggies?

If the answer is "yes" to any of these questions, then this recipe is for you!

There are a ton of cauliflower crust pizza recipes on the web, but this is how I make my cauliflower crust pizzas.

Ingredients:

1 large head of cauliflower
1 cup Daiya Mozzarella "cheese" for crust (optional)
3 eggs
Italian seasoning, oregano, garlic, pinch of sea salt
Favorite pizza toppings

Directions:

1. Wash your cauliflower and cut off stems. We don't need stems, only the heads of the cauliflower.

2. Put your cauliflower heads into the food processor. Pulse until it looks like rice. Don't pulse too much or it will be a puree, we don't want puree.

Microwave the cauliflower rice for 6-8 minutes covered, until cooked. Do not add water, it has enough moisture to steam.

3. In a bowl, combine your eggs, cauliflower "rice", and Daiya (optional). Add a pinch of sea salt, and season with remaining seasonings to your liking. Mix with an electric mixer, approx 1 1/2 - 2 min.

4. Spray olive oil or cooking spray onto a baking sheet.

5. Pour enough mixture for one crust onto baking sheet, spread with spatula until it is an even circle.  ( Make sure not to spread too thin or crust will be floppy)

6. Bake at 450 degrees, for approx. 15 minutes. or until edges start to brown.

7. Remove crust from oven. Top with pizza sauce, dairy free cheese & favorite toppings.

8. Put back into oven until cheese is melted. ( The cooking time varies depending on whether you use dairy free cheese or regular cheese).

Your oven may be different, so adjust temperature and cooking time to suit your needs. Please cook any food containing eggs thoroughly.

Don't burn the cheese :)

Hubby's pizza with regular cheese.
9. Repeat steps 4-9 for 2nd pizza.

10. Enjoy!

This makes approx. two 10 inch round pizzas.

The pizzas turned out delicious!
