Spring Issue of Green Child Magazine is Here!

I absolutely love reading Green Child Magazine!
This issue I thought was a particularly good one, it is filled with recipes, an article on breastfeeding, and sustainable diapering options.

Just wanted to share.

I just wanted to share something I enjoy!
Happy Tuesday!

Easy Cloth Wipes Solution {Recipe}

I was all in on cloth diapers  from day one! We cloth diapered Baby A in the hospital and she hasn't worn a single disposable diaper. ( exception: the nurses brought her back to me in a disposable and as soon as they handed her to me, I ripped it off and put on some fluff).
However, that whole time I was using disposable wipes. For whatever reason, I didn't even think I could do cloth wipes too. I knew other moms did, but I guess it was too big of a leap for me in the beginning.
Just recently, about a month ago, Hubby and I switched to cloth wipes for Baby A. I am so glad we did! It is soooo much better!

I bought about 60 baby washcloths like these (link).

I saved an old Pamper's wipes container and washed it out.
Then I came up with the solution that works best for my baby girl's bum.

Many of the ingredients are optional. I recommend the soap and a moisturizing agent. I like the tea tree because it helps to prevent mold and promotes healing.

Recipe:

1 squirt ( 3/4 tsp approx) Dr Bronner's Castile Soap ( I like the tea tree scent)
1 tsp olive oil
1 tsp aloe juice or gel
3-5 drops tea tree essential oil
3-5 drops lavender essential oil
2 cups water

Mix all ingredients together.
Place wipes in container.
Pour solution over wipes.
Close wipes container tight, and shake to disperse solution.

Done.

I hope that this works for your baby too!

Do you use cloth wipes?
Do you have a favorite wipes solution recipe?

Some babies have sensitive skin, use essential oils with caution and care. Don't ever apply essential oils directly to your babies skin ( or your own) without knowing the proper dilutions. Omit essential oils if you/ your baby is sensitive.

MIA Lately, But More Content Coming Soon! You Don't Want To Miss It!

I have been MIA lately, a busy 19 month old keeps me very busy! Attachment parenting is wonderful, but that means that there are times when I don't get to write when I would like. That is okay, but I just wanted you all to know that I am still here and have a lot of content coming up!

I am currently working on my review of Naturally Fresh Deoderant!
I also have almost finished my cloth diaper washing post which I think will be helpful to those just starting out with cloth diapers!
In addition, I have been making crackers for Baby A to eat with her hummus for a couple months now. I cannot wait for you all to try this recipe! I have taken my time perfecting it, I want to make it as easy as possible for you!
I recently started making tortillas, this recipe is still in the works but looks promising!

How have you all been?
Hubby and I are so excited, we recently got a home gym to go with our free weights & other home equipment. In an apartment we don't have space for a bench and treadmill too, but it is really nice having something I can use on the days that I cannot make it to the gym! Hubby spent a few laborous hours putting it together but it was sooooo worth it!

Here's a picture:

You can't see it well in the picture but it has high/low pulleys.
Here is a link to read more about it:

Hope you all are having a great week!!

I skipped the weekly recap as there wasn't much to recap, but I am excited to be bringing you more content!!

Spaghetti Sauce Recipe You Won't Believe!! {GF/CF/NIGHTSHADE FREE}

This sauce is incredibly easy to make.

It is gluten free/ dairy free/casein free/refined sugar free/nightshade free/tomato free....
and 100% delicious.

Baby A's favorite meals include pasta sauces, and I was nervous that I would not be able to cook food she liked when I had to go nightshade free! However, I had no need to worry because she devoured this immediately.

Ingredients:

Ground Turkey ( optional, we make meat sauce at our house)
Organic Carrots ( 30 oz, approx. 1 bag)
Whole Beets ( 1 can)
Red Onion
1 tblspn Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Fresh Mushrooms ( optional)
Black Olives ( optional)
Italian Seasoning ( to taste)
Black Pepper  ( to taste)
(We also use Cayenne pepper, it is a night shade though, however it is the only one that doesn't affect me, most likely due to the capsaicin)
Oregano ( to taste)
Turmeric ( to taste)
Garlic powder (to taste)

To make the basic sauce which can be used on pizza and other pasta dishes, here is what you do:

1. Chop and steam your carrots.
2. Place carrots and entire can of beets undrained into food processor ( if using fresh beets, please steam & add 1/4 cup water).
3. Pour in 1 tablespoon of organic extra virgin olive oil, and add in your seasonings to taste.
4. Puree the ingredients until they turn into a tomato like sauce.

If you are making the entire spaghetti sauce recipe on here, then you will set aside sauce for now.

1. Brown your ground turkey ( and red onions if using) and drain.

2. Add basic sauce to pan with the turkey.

3. Add in black olives & mushrooms.

4. Cook until the mushrooms are soft or until the pasta sauce is done to your particular liking. I tend to cook the sauce on a low heat with the lid on for most of the time, and toward the end I take off the lid. Stir frequently. This should take approx. 30 min.

If you are only using the basic sauce, you can apply directly to pizza, or you can cook basic sauce for 30 min and put on your favorite gluten free noodles!

It's that easy!

I hope you like it as much as we do!
