(TT): Groceries, Plants, and Lip Balm....It's the little things.

We have been getting a lot of rain here lately. I am actually very thankful for it, as I haven't had to water my garden more than twice!
The indoor plants of course still need watering, but I have been enjoying that too as Baby A is obsessed with taking care of her "baby twees [trees]" aka the avocado seeds, aloe plant, and spider plant.
I have not been able to get a lot of pictures on here when I post lately as I feel I am always running around and forgetting to take them. I apologize as I know the pictures make things much more interesting.

As for everything else happening, I am really happy with the MoistStic that I was sent with the Naturally Fresh deodorant. It really works and my lips needed a good lip balm.  Even better it contains no gluten and has peppermint in it which is really nice on my lips.

Today is grocery day again, and while I don't like making the list, I do enjoy eating the yummy foods, so I am kind of excited to go to the store today. I love the produce section. I do wish that there was more variety though, however, with where I live, that is a lot to ask....which saddens me. The people here are so unhealthy, I wish there was an easy way to get this area healthier. Still, I live by example and hope that it makes a difference in people's lives.

I will try to get a picture of Baby A's Spider Plant and Aloe posted either later today or tomorrow.

What are you thankful for today?

(TT): Some Days You Are Just Thankful For Life...

I apologize again for the lack of posts this week. It has been a rough couple of weeks health wise. It has been bad fibromyalgia and allergies combined. On top of that life is really stressful right now, I am doing my best to try to relax during the storm, but the stress leaves my body tired and depleted.

I find that some days I am just thankful for another day of life.

I am thankful (and nervous) to be going to an allergist on Monday. I will be getting tested for numerous allergens. I am not looking forward to feeling like crap. They also do the food allergy tests, and while we know what I am allergic to for the most part, it is good to see what is the same or has changed. It has been ages since I went to an allergist for my seasonal allergies and asthma.

I have a lot of goals I want to reach and I want to be able to make the most of the opportunities I have, but I have been unable to do so this year. It has been really hard on my body with the crazy weather patterns, I am hoping that some of the new things I am doing will make a difference. I know that it takes time, but it is my hope that something will help.

This isn't the greatest Thankful Thursday post, but right now, I am grateful that Baby A is in a good mood and letting me write this.

I hope that you all have something to be thankful for today.

I would love to hear about your week...

(TT): Gym, Thunderstorms, and Sleep!

I have a lot to be grateful for today!
There was a severe storm warning for our area, the storm was supposed to come at 5 am....the same time I leave for the gym.
Instead of a major storm we only got some rain! It was clear when I left for the gym AND when I came home. I was so excited!

I also am thankful that I was able to work out today. I  have been dealing with severe asthman and allergy attacks since last week Friday, so I have been under the weather. It was also a bad morning for my fibromyalgia. I made it to the gym and got a good work out in...despite my health issues. It felt good to lift, even if not quite as heavy as I normally would have.

This morning Baby A slept in. She does not like naps, so I was very grateful to get 1 1/2 hours this morning to tackle my to-do list before she woke up.

This left me with extra time to hang out with Baby A today after she woke up :) I love quality time reading to her and playing with her!

What are you thankful for today?

(TT): Thankful for the Rain.

This is a super quick Thankful Thursday!

I have been swamped with things to do today around the house. It is  diaper laundry day, regular laundry, grocery day, food prep and fridge cleaning out day, and Baby A is full of energy!

I am super happy and grateful to have gotten in an amazing work out at the gym today....despite a bad fibro day and only 2 hours of sleep!

I am really thankful for the rain. It is rainy and gloomy outside and I love it. I am happy about it because our garden needed it and the grass outside needed it. Plus, I love to open the windows on a rainy day and air out the house, it really helps with the allergens!

In addition, I am thankful for the rain in my life. A lot of sucky things have happened this week and last, and honestly I have to say there are moments where I wanted to throw in the towel on everything and give up. However, that would not be good, as failure is not an option. My amazing Hubby scooped me up and dusted me off, and helped me back on my feet. I am truly grateful for him.
I am truly grateful for the rain in my life as it is helping me to see what the good things in my life really are....

and to be completely blunt, the bad things can EFF OFF! I don't have time or energy to put into the negative in my life....so I am concentrating on nurturing the positive.

Things are going to be good and life is getting better.

How are you? Have you ever had one of those weeks where it seems like, when it rained....it poured?

Tell me about it!

(TT): Laundry mats, Curious Baby, and Sleep.

I am thankful for so many things. I am so happy to have gotten a good nights sleep last night.
I am thankful to have weights at home that I can lift with today.
My body is still sore from my last workout, which is nice because it means my muscles are growing.

I am thankful for the laundry mat we went to. It is nice to be all caught up and have all the blankets clean too!

I am thankful for my ornery curious adventure-loving daughter. I am happy that she questions everything and strives gain knowledge. Yes, it may mean she gets into things and makes a mess, but I am happy that she is so intelligent. I am blessed to have a smart little girl.

What are you thankful for?

I apologize for such a short post today, it has been a busy week. I should be back to my normal posting soon!

(TT): Garden Update (video) and more!

I am so thankful for all of the sun we have had. Over 2 straight weeks of sun. I am also thankful for the rain that we got last night, even though it caused a lot of pain and difficulty getting out of bed this morning. The garden needed it.

In my last post I posted a picture of the damage that the roofers had done to our garden. Thankfully, I was able to salvage the garden, and it  wasn't as badly damaged as I had anticipated. Just a little bit of TLC helped get it back and growing again.

Here is a video of our garden so you can see how it is doing. If you like the little 1 minute videos, I can incorporate more of those onto the blog for recipes and such if you like them.
You can see Baby A's side walk drawings on the porch haha.

Thanks for taking the tour of our garden.

I am also very thankful for the ability to stay home with Baby A, it has really helped her development and self confidence. She is very social and makes friends very easily. She will walk up to any kid ( even a 6 year old) and say hi. I think it is great that she is growing so well. Hubby and I are blessed to have such a wonderful kid.

(TT): Growing Avocado Trees. New Roof, and To-Do Lists

The past couple of days have been really noisy around here. The apartment complex decided it was time for our building to get a new roof. The roofers started at 7:45 am yesterday. It was loud and noisy the entire day....until approx. 4:30 pm. There has also been noise off and on today. Baby A was not thrilled. On the bright side however, I got out of my to-do list for a day, and was able to spend a great deal of quality time with Baby A! It was over 80 degrees and sunny outside. We got to take a walk, go to the library, and play on the playground. Baby A made several friends yesterday. It was a great time. Blessings come out of even the most inconvenient circumstances.

This past weekend Hubby and I decided to start growing avocado trees indoors. We eat a lot of avocados. All you need is the pit, some water, toothpicks, and a cup...and a window full of sunshine. We figured it couldn't hurt. I have heard that avocado trees make great house plants. It is fun to try new projects. I am really thankful that Hubby and I have the ability to try so many new and wonderful things!

These avocado trees are 6 days old today. Nothing has sprouted yet, but it could take a couple of weeks.
You can see roofing shingles left behind in the outdoor part of the window sill.

I am so very thankful for so many things. The weather is beautiful again today! I cannot wait to go to the beach this summer. Hubby, Baby A, and I spent quite a bit of time in the sand last summer, and we hope to do it again!

What are you thankful for?

(TT): Fitness, Being a SAHM, Gardening, Thankful for Life.

Every day there is so much to be thankful, I could blog daily about all of the blessings in my life.
I have many hardships too, but I choose not to let those steal my focus from the good things in life.

I am so thankful that I was able to wake up at 5 am today to go to the gym. I did not feel well (fibromyalgia) yet I went anyway, and I couldn't be happier that I did. I still do not feel well, but I feel better than I did before. Just getting into the gym and lifting weights was a huge accomplishment. I also upped my weights on most of my exercises this week.

pic from last week, didn't take a pic today.

I am pleased that the pollen count in our area is lower over the next couple of days. I have been wanting to open my window :) It feels so nice to have fresh air coming in the windows without my allergies flaring.

I have been getting a lot done around the house lately. Sorting and getting rid of things that no longer serve our family's lifestyle. It is freeing to get rid of things. The happier I am with my life and myself, the less I need things in my life to make me happy.

I am thankful for our new shoe organizer that is keeping our shoes all neat and tidy. It was getting out of hand in the entry way.

I am thankful for Baby A, she has been saying new things daily and some of her new phrases and mannerisms are the cutest ever. How about this? She is only 17 months old and knows how to sit in time out. We don't yell or spank in our house and use the word "no" sparingly. We use time outs for temper tantrums and other outburst ( like if she throws things, etc). It is really working. She is only a baby though so its a 1 min. time out, followed by a hug, but she understands and corrects her behavior very well for being so young.

We finished our garden this week as well. We only had a couple of seeds left to plant. I am so grateful for our balcony so we can at least grow a potted garden. It is wonderful to see the sproutlings coming up already from the plants we planted previously! Baby A even helped plant seeds and had a blast.

our garden & Baby A's chalk artwork ;)

the hot peppers that were in Baby A's window from Feb.
they weren't flourishing in window, so planted. left planter plastic on to
not damage plants.

I love that I get to stay home with my daughter. Contrary to how people make it sound, it is not easy to be a stay at home mom. I hear excuses from people all of the time saying " I don't get to sit at home all day, so I can't cook or clean....blahblahblah". Honestly, I hardly EVER just get to sit. My work day does not end. I have been blessed with a Hubby who helps out in the evenings....thankfully! :) Even though I have help in the evenings I still have to make dinner and get things ready at night. I am not someone who "sits and eats bonbons".  I run the sweeper daily, do 4 loads of laundry a day ( babies are messy), clean up the messes Baby A makes, clean and sweep the kitchen all day long, cook all day long ( we make almost every single thing from scratch that we eat), I hang clothes and make beds...etc. There is a ton of things I do daily. This is a mini rant. However, I am blessed to get to stay home to be the person to raise my daughter. I am happy that a day care is not raising her or a grandparent or a neighbor....I am the person home with her. My Hubby and I are raising her...and it shows. She is so happy. Just yesterday a lady in the grocery store said that Baby A is the happiest baby she has ever seen!

I am grateful for every aspect of my life and would not change a thing.

Life is beautiful.

What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday (TT): Protein, Gym, Family, and Food.

Wow. This week really seems to have flown by fast. People always told me that time only speeds up after you have kids, but I never really realized how much.

Happy Thursday, I hope that the day is treating you well.

I woke up at 5 am today and started my day off with weight training and sprints at the gym. I have to say that though I was mentally motivated, my fibromyalgia made it hard to get out of bed. Never the less, I made it any way and couldn't be happier that I did.  I really focused on my upper body today. I focused on legs Tuesday. My legs were still really sore today, so I did some lunges, squats, and a few machines.... but nothing too crazy for legs today.
I am really thankful that I made it to the gym today.

Just a quick pic I snapped at the gym today.
Haha, you can see my Vibrams.
There are days when I go to the gym and hope that no one will talk to me. When I am in the gym I am in "BEAST MODE" , all I want to do is put all my attention into my workout and get it done. I am really passionate about fitness and serious about lifting. So much so, that I hope to be in shape enough to compete in the near future.  Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the conversation today. I had done all of my workouts at home last week due to being too ill to get out of bed in mornings ( usually I feel better by 1-2 pm), so I was not at the gym last week at all.
I couldn't believe how much the people at the gym missed me. It was nice to know that I not only motivate people there, but that they are a support system I didn't realize I had. One person held the door for me, and three others chatted trying to catch up and let me know that they really consider me a part of their gym family. This touched my heart.
So, though I may be in "BEAST MODE" at the gym, maybe I should get there a few minutes earlier, just so that they can know I am a support too, and I don't come off as rude by being in my workout zone.

I am thankful for my Hubby who sets his alarms in the morning so I don't miss my workouts. I am thankful for his moral support when I am self conscious about one body part or another. I am grateful for his comfort when I go through hard times, as I have gone through a lot of hard times the past 2 years...and it doesn't seem to have let up. I am thankful that I have such a bright future with him and that we have grown together instead of apart like many couples do.

Thanks Hubby. :)

On a less mushy note, I am super excited about  the latest protein we are using. It is my favorite so far.

New favorite protein!

In addition, I am also grateful for preparedness. I always chop and freeze extra leftover veggies at the end of the week, and the chicken too. This way it does not go bad and have to be thrown out. The leftovers resulted in a delicious meal this week! It will soon become a recipe posted on this blog.

Last nights quick meal!

I hope that you have been having a blessed week.

I care about all my readers, and would love to hear about what is going on in your lives!!

Comments make me happy :)

What are you thankful for this week?

Thankful Thursday : Loving This Sunshine!

This has been a great week!
  • I have gotten plenty of sleep, which is always a plus as a parent of a child under 2!
  •  Baby A has been an angel! She put herself to bed on time one night this week, she was so tired she just lay down on her floor pillow and fell asleep...Hubby carried her to the crib. It was adorable.
  • Baby A also has said so many new words and phrases this week! She said " all clean", "all better", "down", "table", and a whole bunch of other words. I honestly cannot remember everything because she is doing so many new things so quickly! I love it. It is so exciting watching her grow.
  • She also helped me put dishes away all week. It is the cutest thing ever. As soon as I open the dishwasher, she comes running into the kitchen to help put things away.
  • Baby A who never wants to take a nap, also took 2 naps this week, on her own. I think she is hitting a growth spurt.
  • I am so glad that the teething pain has subsided for her, her little canine teeth are poking through. This means that she won't be getting many more teeth as she has almost a full mouth of teeth now.
  • my fruit bowl full of yummy organics in my nice clean kitchen
  • I am happy that I have been able to get a ton of things done around the house too!  I have been doing laundry like a crazy person. I organized the kitchen ( we spend a lot of time in there cooking every meal, so it is easy to get it cluttered up!), I cleaned the living room, and I am in the process of dejunking the rest of the house. In an apartment it is easy to gather clutter, there isn't a lot of space to put everything and we have basically no storage at all. This makes things challenging, but I also think that it makes it easier to know when to clear the clutter.  What tends to clutter your house?

  • I am not where I want to be fitness-wise yet. I really want to put on some serious muscle, I know it takes time, and my health condition held me back in February and March, so it will take a while. It is still frustrating though. It is especially frustrating because I STILL have that loose skin. It's not fat or anything, it is literally just skin that is wrinkly and sitting there on my stomach. I think my belly got so big is busted my stomach....LOL.
  • I am so thankful for the beautiful weather! We will be planting our balcony garden this weekend! I cannot wait! I am looking forward to it.
some of the seeds we will be planting
I am looking forward to the kale!

I am thankful for Baby A, thankful for the sunshine and walks with my Hubby and daughter, thankful for the time we have been spending in nature, thankful for my health, thankful for my close friend Stacy, and thankful for all the blessing that God has given me.

Baby A's hot pepper plants we grew from seeds. Planted mid-Feb.
They are a little lopsided because she pulled them out of the window last night lol.

Thankful Thursday!: Teething and Fevers

My posts have been sparce this week.

Baby A is teething badly. Poor baby was running a fever for a couple of days, and it cutting what seems to be all over her canines at once.
Once she has her canines she will only have 2 year old molars left to get in.
Thankful yesterday the fever broke, and she is running a normal temperature. She slept in today but is now running around and playing like her normal self....so far.

I am thankful that she is almost done with teething. I know how hard it is on her and she has never liked teethers, so there isn't much that we can do to help, except for lots of cuddles.

I am so thankful that spring is finally here. We are having thunderstorms, but we also had several days of sun which was fantastic. I have been spending a tremendous amount of time outdoors already with Hubby and Baby A.

I am trying to get more Vitamin D the natural way. I think that it will help my fibromyalgia. It was severe for so many years, and to be honest, I think that a lack of sunshine greatly contributed to it. The rest has to do with air pressure and foods I was eating that aggravated it. I have learned that tomatos are not my friend, solanine  in nightshades makes my body react for whatever reason. Thankfully I have been without them and doing better! Now all I have to do is live in a better climate, then maybe I will feel better haha. Ahhh, maybe one day when I am old lol. Seriously though, the weather where I live is not condusive to my health.

I am concentrating on things that I can change. My goal is to rid my body of fibromyalgia and to put it into remission again....this time for good. It feels good to have my Celiac under control and to be honest, eating a lot of grains isn't good for people anyway. Win win.

I am thankful for the ability to take care of my body and to nourish it. I am thankful that I am continuing to change and grow as a person.

My journey of reinvention is blossoming again. I am going through more dramatic changes in my health journey and it is amazing. I will fill you in on another post.

I just want to say that I am also thankful for how many new followers I have on facebook. You are all amazing! 1, 019 of you! Incredible!

Have a beautiful day and remember, even if you are having a bad day, there is always at least one little thing to smile about. Be thankful and turn things around.

Be Happy Healthy & Strong,

Lolli

Thankful Thursday!

There is so much to be Thankful for every day.

Today I am Thankful for:
  • Baby A let me sleep in a bit this morning which was wonderful.
  • The ability to work out at home. I am thankful to have what I need for those days when it is hard to get to the gym. Just because I miss the gym, doesn't mean that I miss a work out.
  • My Father, even though he has passed away, I have so many wonderful memories. My Father taught me so much of what I know, and made me the person I am today. He taught me a love for research, he showed me what strength was through his fight with cancer, and he taught me what love was...he loved every one he met and wanted happiness & joy for every one...he has passed that on to me.
  • I am so thankful for my daughter. She is joy and light and love, she makes each day beautiful. It is amazing to see every day through a child's eyes. She is only 16 months old, but she has changed my life completely.
  • I am thankful for the healthy lifestyle that my Hubby and I are able to live. Our quality of life is so much better.
I hope that each and every one of you has a wonderful day!
Please remember to take your time today to notice the good things, and be thankful for all that you have.

What are you thankful for today?

Thankful Thursday!

This morning I woke up at 5 am, 30 minutes late. My alarm didn't go off, it was my thoughtful Hubby who woke me up. Long story short, I got peppermint essential oil in my eye while getting ready for the gym. The one way to get it out is milk, I am allergic to cows milk. So, I stole breastmilk out of the fridge, pour it in my eye...and it works!
Now, I am even later. I get to the gym, none of the regulars are in there ( we tend to chat from time to time), there were a bunch of people I didn't know. The weights are all out of order on the rack, so it takes me forever to find the ones I need.

But!! I am thankful that I got a great work out in! It felt great to be back after dealing with chronic pain since the middle of February.

On my way out of the gym there is a sign saying they are closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I normally work out on Saturday. I was bummed. I get being closed for Easter, but I find it a little ridiculous to be closed all 3 days.

However, I am not going to let that stop me. I will still  get up on Saturday and go running outside and lift at home. It is better than nothing!

I had only a couple of hours sleep last night, and was in pain, and it was snowing this morning. But those would have all been excuses to not go to the gym.

Moral of the story: Don't give up. There will always be obstacles in your way. I could've gone back to bed or resigned myself to not working out because I had less time than normal, BUT I didn't. Dedication means if you want it, you've got to go get it.

I am really thankful for my hubby waking me up, I am thankful that I made it to the gym and got a work out in. I am thankful I got the peppermint oil out of my eye. I am thankful that I have weights at home that I can get a work out in when needed.

I am also thankful for the ability to take care of my body. What a privilege.

What are you thankful for today?

Thankful Thursday!

Today I am thankful for having weights to work out with at home. I missed my alarm....again. It has been a rough couple of months with fibromyalgia. By noon or so though I usually feel a little better and can get a light work out in if Baby A allows it.
I am thankful that she allowed it today!

I am also thankful that it will be warm out soon enough and that soon I will be feeling well enough to get back into my gym routine! I don't like the feeling that I am slacking, even if it is because of a health condition. I try to push myself in every way, because I know I can be something great!

I am thankful for the meditation challenge, it has really helped me to be more calm and focused over the past week, especially amidst everything going on lately.

I am thankful that Baby A has taken an interest in the potty. I am now praying that she will start using it. She is early with the potty training and that is wonderful, at least she isn't late with it. I think all kids should at least try the potty before 2 years old. Even if it isn't full potty training, it will help them later on when they do.

I am thankful to have a new food processor as it will make things a lot easier!

What are you thankful for today?

Thankful Thursday!

  • I am thankful that I am feeling better ! After almost a month of not feeling well, and a whole weekend stuck in bed...it feels good to be a little more normal again.
  • I enjoyed a great workout this morning and yoga!
  • I am thankful that Baby A took a nap today, as she doesn't always.
  • I am thankful to have discovered some of Baby A's favorite foods ( good job Hubby!) so that she will eat more at lunch and dinner. She is going through a picky eating phase, so it's nice to have go to foods that make her happy.
  • I am very happy that I started going to the chiropractor, it is helping so much!
  • I am also thankful to have eliminated potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, and paprika from my diet, this seems to have helped my inflammation tremendously!
How is everyone today?

What are you thankful for?

Leave it in the comments :)

Thankful Thursday : Missing In Action

I apologize for my lack of posts this week. I have been missing in action. Things have been busy here, and I have not had the time at the computer that I normally do.

I am thankful to be able to post today though.

I have to admit, at first it was hard to think of things to be thankful for today. I have been a little down in the dumps lately. I think a lot of it has to do with the winter weather and some more of it has to do with my health conditions. I am trying to think more positively though, so hopefully soon with better weather and health, my frown should be lifted.

I am so thankful that I was able to get to the gym this morning. It was hard waking up and the weights at the gym felt way heavier than normal. But I still made it there and got it done. I am so proud of myself for accomplishing that this morning.

I am also very thankful for my hubby who has been very supportive of my goals and understanding despit my mood lately.

I am thankful for my Princess Baby A who makes me smile every day and teaches me new things about life all the time.

I am thankful that winter is almost over and it will soon be spring. I love the warm weather and it cannot come soon enough!

What are you  thankful for today?

Thankful Thursday!

Today I am super thankful for home work outs!

I slept through my alarm, and while it was nice to get extra sleep, I really needed the work out.

So I was able to do my work out anyway.

I am also thankful for my blender, it is nice to be able to still make things even though our food processor broke.

It's the little things that make me happy!

Thankful Thursday! : Another Day.

It is sometimes hard to  think of what you are thankful for when you have had a rough week.

Amidst the pain I have been in this week, I have become grateful for all  the times I am not in pain.
I am thankful that I can do so much when I do feel well.

I am thankful for my daughter, she has been so understanding of my need to rest and has been so well behaved this week.

I am also thankful for my hubby who got up in the middle of the night all week when Baby A would wake up.

I am thankful that no matter how big my problems are. they could always be worse, and I am grateful that they are not worse.

I am thankful for another day to be on this earth.

What are you  thankful for today?

Thankful Thursday: Love and Hard Work!

Just like the efforts to get a great body in the gym, relationships require hard work and effort too.
Hubby and I have been together almost 7 years, life has thrown us many curveballs, and also many blessings.
We have both completely changed since we met, but what is beautiful...... is that we have changed together!
We have supported each other and grown together.
It makes me sad when I hear other couples say that they are growing apart, because honestly, that doesn't have to happen. Communication, trust, and patience can go a long way to helping you keep a loving lasting and beautiful relationship.

Today and every day, I am grateful for the amazing relationship that my husband and I have.
There have been a lot of ups and downs & hard work too, but we have had so many good times & have so many more in our future.

I have the most amazing husband in the world.

To top it off, I have been blessed with an intelligent sweet and beautiful daughter. I couldn't ask for a better child, she has been perfect since the day she was born.

I love my husband and daughter with my whole heart.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Thankful Thursday! : Cuddles and Sunshine

I am so thankful that I got in an incredible legs work out & a run this morning!
I am also really blessed to have gotten an extra hour of sleep last night. Every hour counts.
I am also very thankful that I have been able to go to the chiropractor. After procrastinating for the past year, I finally made it there...It is really going to make a difference in my back.
I enjoyed cuddle time on the couch with Baby A this morning, it was nice to sit with her for a while. Often times she is running around and getting into things, so it's nice when she wants to sit calming on my lap.
Baby A has such a huge interest in books. I can't even begin how many books she and I read in an hour this morning. She loves books!
The sun is out today, even though it is cold....it is beautiful.
I got to do yoga this morning, it is amazing how something so simple can make your day so much better!

What are you thankful for today?

Be Happy Healthy & Strong,
